This is a true story. Happened last night.
(In the middle of the night, I start to get up to go to the bathroom.)
Jeff: What’s wrong?
Jayme: Nothing. Just going to the bathroom.
Jeff: Okay, be careful of the baby.
Jayme: The baby?
Jeff: Yeah, make sure he doesn’t crawl off the side of the bed when you get up.
Jayme: He’s in his crib.
Jeff: Here, I’ll just hold him to make sure he doesn’t crawl off.
(Jeff holds my shoulders.)
Jayme: Jeff — that’s me! The baby is in his own crib next door.
Jeff: Is he sleeping?
Jayme: I hope so! It’s 1:00 a.m.
Jeff: Oh, well. Good. (Rolls over and goes back to sleep.)
Note: We aren’t co-sleepers (bed-sharers with a baby), but for the first time Phinehas slept in our bed with us for a few hours this weekend. He had woken up in a strange place and nothing seemed to comfort him, so we put him into bed with us and he went right to sleep. It must’ve made quite an impression on Jeff!
