I’ve made one of these for each of my sister’s 3 kiddos, so I knew I wanted to do one for mine. For my sister, I made individual boards, but I think for me, we’ll just have a “family” height board, where I’ll just have 1 board for all of the kids.
This one is different than the one I made my nephew and nieces – it was inspired by 517 Creations as found on pinterest. I pretty much followed her instructions, so I’ll just link you there for directions.
Some tips I’d give:
- Paint pens are fun! But dangerous. Be careful when you shake it…triple check that the cap is on. Then check it again.
- Her tips for just printing the numbers in Word, then using pencil to create a stencil was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I didn’t think it would work, but it did. Total cost = 2 pieces of paper.
- Make sure you decide, up front, if you’re going to hang it from the floor or hang it above the floor. We have trim in the room, so I designed it knowing that I’d hang it 6 inches above the floor. So my numbers start funny if you didn’t know that.
Total cost of this project was like $10.00 since I used paint I already had, but did need to buy a paint pen and the board. So worth it!
