Another blog that I read is girltalk. Every day, they post a picture from their lives. Really, it’s just a picture from everyday life. Breakfast dishes. Kids coloring. A couple kissing for their anniversary. Grocery shopping. I love the idea. Since I watched them do this for the past several months, I’ve wanted to do something similar. I want to celebrate the little moments. I hate the thought of wishing my life away. I regret those moments in my past that I didn’t enjoy because I was waiting so intently for the next thing. High school, college, career, marriage, you name it.
So….we just bought a new camera – nothing fancy at all. A Nikon Coolpix L22. Really nothing fancy. About as simple as you get. But it’s ages better than my old camera that would eat batteries like a monkey eats bananas. Now, I can take pictures of the everyday life.
I don’t have a goal of taking a picture every day. If that happens, it happens. But at least weekly. Then at the end of the year, I’ll get them printed into a digital photo album. Then I’ll have an album for every year of life. So that I can remember what that year was all about. I can remember the Omaha Royals game we went to before Rosenblatt was tore down. The new spaghetti sauce I discovered. The 300 games of Backgammon we played. The craft project that turned out okay after all. The way my bathroom looked after I cleaned it. How the covers on the bed look when we wake up because Jeff (accidentally, I’m sure) pushes them off. Years from now, I want to remember all those moments. They’re precious.
You’re about to join me in that journey. I call them Moments. Here’s the first one.
This is Jeff’s cereal. He really makes his own cereal. (I totally married a keeper. He’s mine. Back off.) It’s been a while since he’s made it. He tried about 6 weeks ago (or so) and it didn’t turn out at all. It got burned, it wasn’t the right consistency (which is probably why it burned), so he tried again tonight. It turned out! Guess what will be in our bowls in the morning, taking a bath in some milk?
