I think this is the first phase of babyhood that I don’t like as much as the one previous. He’s a full on crawler and stander now. I’m super happy for him and excited about the transition, but man, it’s a hard one! In just 2 weeks time, he went from not crawling at all to ‘crawling all over, plus being able to pull himself up’. It’s so fun to see.
The catch? He’s been hurting himself a lot. He bonks his head on table legs. In the course of learning how to judge distances, he gets closer than he should. And he’s learned to stand by pulling himself up on furniture. BUT…he sometimes gets “stuck” since he hasn’t learned how to sit back down yet. So he’s just left there holding on to the couch, but too scared to let go and fall down.
Or in the course of trying to sit back down, he’ll bonk his head on the floor. That really hurts on the kitchen’s laminate flooring or the living room’s wood floor!
So he’s been crying a lot. Either for someone to come help him get unstuck or because he hurt himself. That’s just part of learning this new skill. But man, crawling is rough on a little guy!
